Harvard 39th Annual Evaluation and Treatment of Pain Conference 2025

A significant amount of research has indicated that many, if not all, types of pain are undertreated. Some data indicate that only 25% of patients treated for pain receive adequate relief. In addition, several studies have shown that various pain-relieving techniques may be used inappropriately, which can result in patient harm.

Held each spring in Boston, Evaluation and Treating Pain is a live course that reviews both the science and the latest advances in the field of pain medicine. Faculty includes experts from anesthesiology, neurology, psychiatry, psychology, internal medicine, physical rehabilitation, orthopedic surgery, interventional radiology, and neurosurgery.

This course will help participants:

• Diagnose and treat common pain problems

• Explore a variety of treatment options for chronic pain, acute pain, and cancer-related pain

• Understand the role of opioids and their appropriate use in pain management

Learning Objectives

• Assess methods for managing end-of-life pain

• Compare various pain-relieving techniques

• Apply current guidelines for pediatric pain management

• Discuss the benefits and use of non-pharmacologic treatments like yoga
